"Mutoscopes"

Using a mobile video phone to download music and games is one thing, but Biograph will soon offer the newest cutting edge content. Our service allows users to download short films called "Mutoscopes". The initial lineup includes films that are far from anyone's first-run list.'

Originally in the early 1900's, the "Mutoscopes" were entertaining 2 to 3 minute films. These films were exhibited in "Mutoscope" peep-hole machines, where you put a nickel in, turned the crank, looked through the viewer, and watched the picture.

With the demand for more content downoload for cellphones, Biograph is currently in pre-production for new "Mutoscope" short films. These new "Mutoscopes" are independent films made for the new "Wireless" entertainment genre. The new "Mutoscopes" will comedies such as "Big 'D' and his Big Black Bus" to other dramatic and action "Mutoscopes" of varied plots. Many of these "Mutoscopes" will be cutting edge and produced by up and coming filmmakers.

Also available from the Biograph library will be original "Mutoscopes" from the 1900's. Among the classic "Mutoscopes" are "A Ballroom Tragedy" where a woman is robbed and shot in the back, comedies such as "Mr. Jack" a lecherous character with an eye for the ladies, to the historic films of the San Francisco earthquake in 1906, and "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show". These films made over 90 years ago reflected the times, and today still hold an insight into a new art form, the movies.

The reason for demand of these short films is that surveys show many people have a shorter attention span when it comes to mobile phone video. Allowing for that, the "Mutoscopes" let viewers watch movies that are short, yet complete.

Biograph takes pride in combining the newest advances in Home Entertainment, with the quality and traditions of the past. The average cost is expected to be $1.99 per download.
