"Davy Crockett"
A story of America
|

In these days, many take pride in the slow and insidious destruction of every American Hero we have. Truths are distorted, facts ignored, and history re-written to serve the purpose of a popular point of view, rather than factual truth. Our Heroes will not be desecrated... Our history will not be destroyed... Through the test of time, America stands undaunted and undistorted, and so does her Heroes, like Davy Crockett.
One of America's greatest heroes is Davy Crockett. Davy Crockett has been the subject, or perhaps more accurately, victim, of fictional portrayals even before his death. the new Biograph movie "Davy Crockett- A Story of America" will attempt to reveal the "Real" man in a true biographical dramatization, and more importantly, in Crockett's own words, thoughts, and feelings.
David "Davy" Crockett was a frontiersman, politician and folk hero from Tennessee who joined Texas forces in 1836 and was killed in battle at the Alamo. Crockett was raised in eastern Tennessee and served in the Creek War in 1813 under Andrew Jackson. He served two terms in the state legislature 1821 to 1824 and three terms in the United States House of Representatives 1827 to 1829, 1829 and 1831 and 1833 to 1835. Crockett was an expert shot wonderful humorist, and he became a national celebrity. In 1836 he joined those fighting for expansion in Texas, but shortly after his arrival he fought overwhelming forces of the Mexican Army led by Santa Ana and was killed at the Alamo. His death at the Alamo made him a true folk hero, with stories of his heroism far and wide. The values he stood for are as true today as in the young America.
